Which banks have boosted capital of their subsidiaries in Romania?

Volksbank Romania, Emporiki Bank and Marfin Bank have received capital injections of €50.13 million from their parent banks in April, three times more than in the year-ago period, according to data from the Trade Registry.

Volksbank Romania, held by Volksbank International, has hiked capital by €39.2 million, while Emporiki Bank received a capital inflow of €6.04 million, and Marfin Bank boosted capital by €4.89 million.

In April 2009, GE Garanti Bank received €8.07 million from its parent bank, and UniCredit around €7.14 million.

Capital inflows from foreign banks into their Romanian subsidiaries exceeded €140.4 million in the first quarter, up 7% from €130.9 million in the year-ago period.

In 2009, Romanian companies received from their foreign shareholders capital inflows of €814 million, 46% more than €558 million in the same period of 2008.
