Heinekens marketing exec at the helm of Strauss

Marius Melesteu, former marketing executive of Brau Union – Heineken, has been appointed as general manager of Strauss Romania. Paul Markovits, former marketing director of Vodafone will replace him, sources close to the issue told Wall-Street.
Heineken representatives confirmed the departure of Marius Melesteu, and will make an official announcement in the coming period. Contacted by Wall-Street, Paul Markovits (photo) refused to comment on the appointment.

Strauss representatives could not be contacted.

Paul Markovits has a 15-year experience in marketing, 12 of which at P&G. For one year and a half he served as head of Vodafone Romania’s marketing operations. In November 2008 he was named partner of The Network consultancy firm, while leading the Time 2 Talk start-up.

Marius Melesteanu is taking up the new role at Strauss Romania after the former general manager Matanya Schwartz stepped down in September 2009. Avraham Ben Baruch has filled the vacant role until now. In January, Strauss appointed Razvan Mircea as marketing director.
