Factory output sank three times less than European average
Industrial production in Romania fell 4.5% in July year-on-year at a rate three times lower than the European Union’s average of 14.7%, according to the data provided by the statistical arm of the European Union, Eurostat.
The situation was much worse in the euro area were the factory output fell 15.9% in July YoY.
The only increase in industrial output was observed in Ireland, where it scaled up by 7.1% from July 2008. The smallest YoY decrease in output was recorded in Romania, followed by Poland with 4.6%. The largest decreases were registered in Estonia – 27.9%, Finland – 24.2% and Slovenia – 20.4% of the 20 Member States for which data are available.
Compared to June, industrial production remained stable in Romania, fell 0.2% in EU27 and dropped 0.2% in euro area.
On a month-by-month comparison, industrial production rose in ten, and fell in nine. The largest increases were registered in Ireland (+8.7%), Lithuania (+3.4%) and Denmark (+3.3%), while the largest decreases were observed in Luxembourg (-3.1%), Finland (-2.6%) and Latvia (-1.4%).
